Instant Belly Dancer: A Crash Course in Bellydance, Vol.1 – Curves

May 8th, 2011

Description
INSTANT BELLYDANCER is an innovative intensive program, a fast-track how-to source for adding bellydance moves to your club and party dance repertoire, as well as a solid starting point for a systematic study of belly dance.

The INSTANT BELLYDANCER DVDs present dance moves as trajectories following geometric shapes. A consistent system of animated onscreen graphics superimposed on the Neon’s moving image effectively interprets movement angles and directions, promoting accelerated learning. Grouping of movements into clear-cut categories enables easy recall of dance patterns when improvising. In addition to basic steps, the DVD features moves and combinations that go far beyond the basics.

The INSTANT BELLYDANCER Curves DVD explores moves based on smooth, curvy geometric patterns: Vertical and horizontal circles, semicircles, and infinity loops; the movements that give bellydance its serpentine, fluid look.

As bellydance sweeps the worlds of pop music and fashion, the INSTANT BELLYDANCER DVDs interpret this art from a modern, trend-aware perspective: Bellydance as a source of sophisticated grace and exotic flair that both honors and transcends its origins, encouraging freedom, creativity and individuality in combining dance moves.

How can I become a famous belly dancer?

September 20th, 2010

Belly dancing is something I love to do and I’m great at it but I need more training and stuff but how can I inroduce my talent and not be shy?

Instant Belly Dancer: A Crash Course in Bellydance, Vol.2 – Hipwork Plus

July 12th, 2010

Description
The “Hipwork Plus” DVD explores belly dance moves based on angular geometric patterns with emphasis on hipwork – the core of the belly dance vocabulary. Intricate hip movement patterns emerge from combining simple trajectories, such as horizontal and vertical hip slides, lifts, drops and arcs.

The “Instant Belly Dancer” system helps you learn – and learn fast – by presenting bellydance movements as trajectories following geometric shapes. This “instant” method is based on the mnemonic principle: A visual and systematic approach stimulating memorization of the belly dance vocabulary and encouraging freedom, creativity and individuality in combining dance moves.

From the very beginning you will see the possibilities of movement within this genre of dance. By focusing on sequences of geometric shapes, directions and dimensions, you will learn to improvise more quickly than you ever could through random learning of the traditional belly dance combinations. In no time you will know how to alternate body regions to generate similar or contrasting trajectories, develop an awareness of dance flow, and create your own unique dance silhouette.

The “Instant Belly Dancer” system is presented on two DVDs, “Curves,” and “Hipwork Plus.”

TIPS AND AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION – We followed 5 professional dancers to several of their restaurant shows and to get candid and original footage of them working the crowd. Each dancer talks about her philosophy of tip collection and we explore the arguments for and against “body tipping”.

RESTAURANT VS STAGE DANCING – We use footage from the By Dancers For Dancers performance series along with original footage shot in restaurants and nightclubs to show the many venues in which a dancer may end up performing. Each dancer narrates their performance and explains how they altered the show to fit that specific venue.

PROFESSIONALISM – Professional dancers are asked “what makes a professional dancer?” Their ideas and suggestions for being more professional are voiced over their performances.

ASK THE AUDIENCE – We took the cameras into the audience at the last By Dancers For Dancers show to find out more about the audience perspective. We learn what the audience feels makes an excellent performance.

Dancers Interviewed: Maria, Zaheea, Bahaia, DaVid, Louchia, Sandra, Shoshanna, Summer

ABOUT THE SERIES

“…information that every performer and instructor should have.”

What makes a captivating dancer? A captivating dancer knows how to draw in the audience and takes them on an emotional journey with every movement and expression. A captivating dancer shows us a different way of listening to the music without overpowering it and teaches us that there is beauty in even the simplest movements. A captivating dancer knows how to build drama and set up those “wow” moments.

Unfortunately, most dancers simply focus on the mechanics of their movements and don’t train themselves in the art of performing. Many dancers mistakenly think that performance skills cannot be learned and feel frustrated that it does not come naturally.

Having sharp isolations and cute combinations are a result of training your muscles, but incorporating stage presence, emotion and musical awareness into your dance require training of a totally different kind. The exercises in this DVD are uniquely designed to help you become a better performer and to push your dance presentation to the next level.

Has anyone got any tips on becoming a professional belly dancer?

January 13th, 2010

I am almost 15. I have been bellydancing or almost 5 yrs. I dance two nights a week with a world renowned teacher. I go to as many workshops as possible and I try to be the best at every thing I do in bellydance. I want to teach, and be taught. I want to choreograph, perform, and do private parties or bellygrams. But I just love bellydancing more than anything in the world!
